I always wondered how it could be to live in those dark and sinister times of the 1500. You know, the plagues sweeping nation after nation and so on. There is something that would appeal to me in reliving those days and I have to tell you that I have discovered the way to do that.

I just returned from the trip to Edinburgh Dungeon, one of the most sinister museums I have ever seen. Naturally, the museum of torture was worse but this one is close to it though.

The Edinburgh Dungeon is simply a set of 11 (I think) actor led presentations plus some installations and the typical stuff you can find in a museum. I didn’t see the whole thing, I have to admit but from what I saw it is really well done and the three presentations I went to really scared the hell out of me (no pun intended).

The first attraction I went to see was Sweeney Beans cave. Sweeney was a 15th century clan leader who lived with his offspring in a cave new Edinburgh. They lived there unnoticed for nearly quarter of a decade, murdering people and bringing their corpses back to their cave for consumption.

It was only when they tried to ambush someone with military experience, who was able to defend himself that the truth about them was discovered, a search organized and naturally they were all executed.

The second attraction was to relive the times of gruesome murders of Burke and Hare. The two Irish immigrants were killing people and selling their bodies to the Edinburgh University where they were used by classroom students to practice dissection.

The pair was discovered, however they managed to murder 17 people and sell their bodies.

The last attraction, if I can use that word, is the recreation of Mary King Close, a close allegedly used in 1646 to bring the sick with the plague to starve. From the historic data we already know that that was never the case, however it is good to see how people were treated back then.

All in all, if you plan to stay in Edinburgh, I recommend you visit the dungeon.

There’s a lots of things the city of Liverpool is often renowned for, a football team being amongst them. Nevertheless, in the eyes of several it is the fabulous four that made this vibrant and colorful city. The Beatles’ heritage is heavily baked into Liverpool. From their family properties to the Cavern Club where they performed their first notes attaining speedy following, Liverpool is stuffed with historical places concerning this celebrated music group. As someone once claimed, you cannot head to Liverpool and don’t walk exactly the same steps as John, Paul, George and Ringo, the places that witnessed them growing up as well as inspired most of their unbelievable tunes. In case you are planning to go to Liverpool, locations of the locations you ought to commit to check out while having your stay:

1.	Beatles’ family residences.

Beatles were raised in Merseyside portion of Liverpool with John and Paul spending their childhood years on 20 Forthlin Road and Mendips. Either homes are now under the safeguard of the National Trust. Coming to the homes two Beatles have grown up in is necessary for almost any fab four supporter on this planet. Absolutely everyone thinking about their music must see the extremely humble situations of their upbringing to be familiar with their tunes far better. Pauls residence pays an exceptional role in the bands history because this is where they’ve already met and rehearsed at first. This is also where many of their first tracks were composed.

2.	Penny Lane and Strawberry Field

Some other place to go to are classified as the famous Liverpool locations which influenced two of the Beatles’ talked about songs. Penny Lane, a common name for Allerton Road and Smithdown Road and the surrounding shopping area is a place wherever Paul and John would meet oftentimes to trap the bus towards the city centre. Strawberry Field was a Salvation Army kid’s household in Woolton, a suburb of Liverpool, England. John Lennon was raised right next to the house and one of his largest childhood goodies were summer time parties in the home that he could join in to.

3.	Cavern Club

Cavern club is maybe the most identified Beatles linked spot in Liverpool. That’s the place where the 4 set their first steps in terms of playing live. This is where they performed their primary show and in addition it absolutely was in the Cavern that they were discovered by Brian Epstein, an occasion that introduced their professional career. Surely the Beatles are the most crucial groups in the history of rock and roll music, the one that impressed numerous others that we cherish still today. Having the capability where you go walking the exact same steps as these four guys that have already modified the history of music forever is definitely an memorable experience for just about any music fan out there.

I write quite often about the site’s structure, how it’s navigation should be planned and structured and many other elements. But sometimes you probably just want to get away from it all and design a site that does one thing only, just carries the message. A site with no menus, no complicated structure, just one page and the message on it.

And as easy as they seem I find one page sites one of the most difficult ones to create. Mainly because there is only a message on them and you have no tools like additional pages to make the message clearer.

Very often I sing praises to designers who do a great job with them and below is a list of my most recent top 5+ one page sites out there (in no particular order)

1. Six central

2. Moly Yim

3. Sourhaze

4. ESO E-Systems Organizers

5. Eduardo de La Rocque

and the + one, showing extreme minimalism yet still communicating the message.
5+. joelirwn.in
